Biotechnology,Tropical Botanical Garden and Research Institute ,Sree
ChitraTirunal Institute forMedical Science and Technology etc. Kerala's
intrinsic biodiversity, along with an excellent chain of research institutions
and highly skilled manpower is ideal for the growth of the biotech industries.
The newly anounced ,advanced biotechnology park will also act as the single
source for research and support services for setting up new units on a
commercial basis.The present total investment in biotechnology industry is
estimated at Rs.7000 Crores distributed over 900 units,out of which more than
50% are conventional units. Present demand for biotechnology products is about
Rs.9000 Crores which is expected to more than double to Rs.24000 Crores by
2010. |
